As the Travel Mart Latin America returns to Quito, the city is readying itself to welcome participants from around the world. Many of you will have taken part in the Travel Mart 2003 which also took place in the Ecuadorian capital. Many of you will remember the great show the city put on five years ago. Well, the good news is that we are working on our inauguration and closing ceremonies and we are sure they will live up to the expectations created in 2003.

The inauguration will take place in the streets and squares of Quito’s stunning historical heart. The theme will be “The Fiesta of the Volcano” incorporating traditional Andean processions and fiestas, dance, music, video and plenty of fun. The ceremony itself will take place within the Convent of San Francisco, Quito’s oldest church and the largest religious complex in the Americas. The event, on 10th September, coincides with Quito celebrating 30 years since its nomination as the first World Heritage Site city, on 8th September 1978.

The closing event will take place in the evening of the 12th September. The beautiful Itchimbía Park and Cultural Centre will host the evening whose theme is “Experience the Wonder of the Wanderers”, incorporating the landscapes, elements and historical characters which you find on this website. It will be an evening to delight all the senses, with acrobats, dancers, music, video, food and drink from every corner of the country all incorporated into this great space, which boasts the finest views of the capital from its hillside above the Old Town.
